Gold metallic in afternoon light. This one is a beast for me to photograph—luckily, it’s in expert hands right now with @hansondigital
Stayed tuned for the professional version!

These were the last prints I finished during the summer workshop and I loved making them (see previous posts). I have been thinking about our tongues and what it would be like if we had to switch out our tongues to communicate specific words/emotions. For example, one tongue used specifically for vulnerable expressions, a different one for scared expressions, one for devastation, one for loving, etc.
This process was multi-step and I used different plates for different tongue textures. If you look closely, you can see that there is a pointy tongue that is layered in the "mouth" with a lumpy tongue. I made each tongue on separate plates and printed them inside the sugar lift aquatint "mouth". I would loved to say longer so I could just keep printing different tongue versions. Maybe next time! Swipe to see the pink and purple versions and the copper plate etching in the acid bath.

Two more prints from my week at CPP. These are based on an ink drawing from 2024 (last image).
These step etch aquatints were the most complicated of the week, requiring twelve different steps. (thanks to the expertise and patience of master printer, @courtneysennish, for working with me to pull them off!)
It is difficult to see, but they have beautiful texture and details in the edges where the ink rests in the etched lines.
